Harvesting Hope 2009

The day was more incredible than any of us could have imagined. Maple Hall never looked better. We served the most incredible brunch to one hundred and elven guests. There was energy in the air that is hard to describe. Silent auction items rimmed three sides of the hall while live auction items flashed continuously on the huge screen at the front. Beautiful flower arrangements were the backdrop for white clothed tables adorned with three tier serving platters, elegant place settings and napkins in hand made floral napkin rings. This club was "out of control" incredible coming together as only we can to make this event happen. With all the physical, financial and moral support, we did it...resulting in the one of the most successful Harvesting Hope Auction to date. thirty four thousand dollars for our many literacy projects.
We extend out thanks to Casey and Susan with Nell Thorn Restaurant for the wonderful food and the Jeff Hellam with Hellam's Vineyard for the perfect wine pairings. Many compliments have been received on the foods and wine served that day. Our day was beautifully started with a Plateau Blessing Honor Song from Kevin Paul. Michael Getz, helped set the stage with his jazz rhythms throughout the day.
Special thanks are extended to those volunteers without whose help this day would never have been as successful. Volunteers from Soroptimists of La Conner, The La Conner Sea Scouts, The Museum of Northwest Art (MONA) and Christ the King Church all worked hard helping make this day special, making sure food, wine and mimosas were readily available.
Our local merchants and businesses again open their hearts and donated many wonderful items for the silent auction. Club team members were able to put together the best one-of-a-kind live auction items available. How to you say thank you tothe generous spirit throughout our town?
Last and not least a very special thank you to Rick and his committee for their preserverance, relentless pursuit of excellent items and dedication through frustrations and worn patience, You are to be commended for your overwhelming achievement. Congratulations and thank you to all.
